Tips on finding the perfect wedding dress
Have an idea of style of gown you want before you start shopping.
The best advice to give a bride is to think about your day. One of the first things we say to our brides is ‘tell us about your plans, where is the wedding to be held? Very often venues can be the start of a theme or style of the wedding and this can mean different styles of wedding dress. At Fairytale Bride we want to make sure you have the perfect dress for a perfect day!
Give Yourself Enough Time
Start looking sooner rather than later. It’s never too early to start trying on dresses as it will give you an idea of what you like and what suits you. Very importantly, it can take up to 6 months for a dress to be made to order. Some designers do offer a rush cut that can bring to order nearer, or we can sell “off the peg”, so it’s not the end of the world! Make sure you take alterations into consideration.
Make an appointment
By making an appointment with us at Fairytale Bride, we offer a relaxed and friendly environment in complete privacy. The bride will have a one to one consultation where she will be able to try on our gorgeous wedding dresses and hopefully, find the one!
Try on different styles
Very often, in our experience, brides end up choosing a gown that was nothing like the one they originally had in mind! So, our advice is, make sure you try on several different styles. This can be for example, strapless, sleeves, short or long, ball gown, fit and flare etc. After trying on several styles, you will know what suits you and what you like and don’t like. We will then be able to pick
out gowns for you, even some that you may not have considered.
What to bring to the appointment
Ideally come to your appointment with your shoes and neutral underwear – these should be the ones or very similar, intended for your big day and a strapless bra is a good idea, if you have one.
DON’T freak out about wedding dress sizing. Wedding dresses can be up to two to three sizes bigger than your normal size. So, you may be pinned and clipped into the dress but pay attention to how it looks on you not the actual size of the dress.
